21 Master Pigments

High performance pigments for high definition applications. Use S.A.M. pigments to color all silicones and to make silicone paint. Crisp, clean Primary and Secondary colors that intermix beautifully. Classic Earth colors for sophisticated wood, stone and skin tones. A palette from which a gazillion colors can be made. The basis of SAM Mixed Shades.
  • TRANSLUCENCY / OPACITY
Some SAM Silicone Pigments are more translucent than others. This is natural. No opacifies have been added to any SAM Master Pigments. TRANSPARENT is where you can see through - like glass or water. TRANSLUCENT is where you can see somewhat through - like a balloon or milk container. OPAQUE is where you cannot see through at all - like a rock, piece of wood or steel.

  • Cobalt Blue
Cobalt Blue. SLIGHTLY TOXIC. Permanent. Translucent. Cobalt Blue is considered sightly toxic with direct skin contact in sensitive individuals. Mixing Info: SAM Silicone Colors have been formulated so 1% by weight (1 part color to 100 parts silicone -or- 1 small squirt to 1/2 cup silicone by volume) will give a good representation of that color in translucent silicone. For full color saturation use up to 5%, although 3% will probably be all you will ever need. Use 0.5% or less for translucent effects. For painting use up to 5% mixed into translucent silicone rubber, paint base or adhesive / caulking for general coloration, up to to 10% for intense opaque detail. Thin to proper consistency with appropriate solvent.

Earthtone Silicone Colors

Colors are given as a general guideline. Due to the different variety of computer monitors
and screen settings, colors may not be exact.

As a pigment family, EARTH COLORS are the tried and true backbone of permanent colors. Used in ancient cave paintings, Earth Colors are natural occurring minerals. Minerals from the Earth. Hence they term ʻEarth Colorsʼ. Basically, they are clean dirt. Traditionally used in painting for thousands of years for wood, stone and skin tones. The most permanent of pigments - Earth Colors will not fade from exposure to sunlight. Unlike vivid synthetic colors, Earth Colors are naturally muted. This makes them ideal starting points for a wide range of natural looking colorations. Like skin. Natural skin color is never very bright. It has a grayed tone to it. Human skin tones span a narrow range of muted pinks, beiges and browns. Using Earth Colors, just about any realistic skin, wood and stone color can be made. From the lightest pink to the deepest brown skin tone, from pine to rosewood, granite to marble.
  • White Oxide
Titanium Oxide. Non-Toxic. Permanent. Opaque. The whitest of the white pigments, White Oxide has an ever so slight bluish tint. Used to adjust the value and make tints of other colors. Some light skin tones can be made of up to 95% White Oxide.
